Global Warming

Global warming refers to the long-term increase in Earth’s average temperature primarily caused by the accumulation of greenhouse gases, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4), in the atmosphere. These gases trap heat from the sun, leading to a warming effect known as the greenhouse effect. The main causes of global warming are human activities, particularly the burning of fossil fuels (i.e. coal, oil, and natural gas), deforestation, and industrial processes, which release vast amounts of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

The value of Geen Hydrogen in battling Global Warming

Green hydrogen, produced through electrolysis of water using renewable energy sources like solar, hydro or wind power, offers a promising solution to combat global warming beyond the targets set in the Paris Agreement. This is because green hydrogen production generates no greenhouse gas emissions, unlike conventional hydrogen production methods reliant on fossil fuels. Green hydrogen can be utilized as a clean energy carrier in sectors such as transportation, industry, and power generation, displacing the use of fossil fuels and subsequently reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

By incorporating green hydrogen technologies into various sectors, countries can further accelerate their efforts to achieve carbon neutrality and limit global warming, aligning with the Paris Agreement’s goals to keep global temperature rise well below 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels.

HyFive’s role in the process to overcome global warming

Through focusing on realizing a portfolio of at least 1.5GW of installed capacity in Europe by 2035 in the field of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives, HyFive has taken up the baton to materially contribute to one of the major challenges of our era, battling global warming.
